Winter months are great times to work indoors at KBY too! Here are a few photos of the dish room work. Thank you Terry Harrell and Mayfield First Christian Church. Terry’s mother was our cook for several years.
The fall work day was a great success. With the help of people from Bardwell Christian Church, Benton First Christian Church, Crofton Christian Church, Dawson Springs First Christian Church, Hopkinsville First Christian Church, Mayfield First Christian Church, Mayfield Second Christian Church, Madisonville First Christian Church, Murray First Christian Church, Paducah First Christian Church and 1st Presbyterian Church of Madisonville, we completed an amazing amount of work in our efforts to maintain the camp and get ready for winter.
Special thanks to
- Bill and Ian for the continuing work on insulating the staff cabins
- Bill, Ian, Weaver, and Clifton for all the work cleaning out the tractor shed, and starting repairs to the shed roof
- Bruce, Andrew, Kerry, and Hugo for repairing the fascia on the Pavilion
- Haley and Rachel for spacing and anchoring the buoys on the swim rope
- Edwina, Leslie and Joyce for organizing the kitchen and craft rooms
- Charlie for all the work moving and burying concrete block and stumps as well as digging a drainage ditch at the tractor shed
- Kathy, Jeff, Rick, Susan, Glori, and all the others who showed up for finishing up all the little jobs that are so necessary to keeping the camp running smoothly
- Mark and Mike for cutting up downed trees

The spring work day was a huge success. With the help of people from Bardwell Christian Church, Benton First Christian Church, Mayfield First Christian Church, Murray First Christian Church, Paducah First Christian Church, Hopkinsville First Christian Church, Crofton Christian Church, Madisonville First Christian Church, and 1st Presbyterian Church of Madisonville, we were able to complete the many tasks necessary to maintain the camp and get ready for summer.
- Bill, Kerry, Tim, Terry, Bruce, and Gayle, for the many hours of work on the insulation of the staff cabins. Cabins 2 and 3 are ready for our summer staff.
- John for taking care of new door locks on the staff cabins, and installing the signs at the beach
- John and Dan (for the equipment) for getting rock delivered and spread out around the camp
- Rick for cleaning out the cabins, as well as the refrigerators and freezers
- Mark Dycus and his grandchildren for cleaning/disinfecting all the mattresses (They are now ready to go into the cabins.)
- Kerry for cleaning out the gutters on the Lodge and the Pavilion, for staining the Pavilion Fireplace mantel, repairing the chimney at the Pavilion and fixing the leaks in the Lodge roof
- The Mark Atnip Family for cleaning windows all around the lodge
- Haley for her artistic touches in the kitchen and in the girl’s bathroom in the lodge
- Dan and Rob for their efforts on tree and limb removal
- The painting crew of Glori, Haley, Rachel, and Susan for the fresh coat (or 2 or 3 coats) of paint in the kitchen, storage room, lodge bathrooms and hallway
- Susan, Rachel, Larry, Dennis, Joyce, Haley and Glori for thoroughly cleaning the dish room and pantry, dishwasher, salad bar, and griddle
- Haley and Susan for repainting the 4-square courts at the Pavilion
- Dan and Rob for their efforts on tree and limb removal
We also want to thank those who have donated financially to our work day needs:
- Thank you Rachel Gearhart for the gracious donation of a new stainless steel table for the kitchen.
- Thank you Far West Men Fellowship and Susan and Bill Roberts who donated funds to purchase new life jackets and jacket storage system to the camp.
- Thank you to Bardwell Christian Church and members of Morris Valley Christian Church for additional funds to help with the work at the tractor shed.
